The difference between Central Bank Digital Currencies and cryptocurrencies in general and Bitcoin, in particular, is explained by the former’s very name. As opposed to Bitcoin’s intended privacy and decentralization, a CBDC is designed to be subject to Government surveillance and is issued by a central authority. It is, therefore, an anti-Bitcoin.
