Michael Wohlgemuth
Michael Wohlgemuth (D), a native of Germany studied economics in Freiburg/Br. and holds a Ph.D. in Economic from the F. Schiller University, Jena and a second Ph.D. in Pol.Sci. from the University of Witten/Herdecke. Currently he serves as Director at the Foundation for Governance and Public Law, a research institute based in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Wohlgemuth is also Professor of Political Economy at the University of Witten/Herdecke, taught International Governance at the University in Bayreuth and worked as Research Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Economics in Jena. Prof. Wohlgemuth was Managing Research Associate at the Walter Eucken Institute (Freiburg/Br.) and lectured at the Universities of Freiburg, Erfurt, Friedrichshafen, and Witten/Herdecke, George Mason University, New York University and was also the “Friedrich August von Hayek-Professor” at the University of Innsbruck.
He is the speaker of the “Jenaer Allianz zur Erneuerung der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft”, vice-chairman of the Hayek-Gesellschaft, member of the Mont Pèlerin Society and several other learned institutions. Wohlgemuth’s main research areas are New Institutional Economics, Austrian Economics, Public Choice Theory, and the History of Ideas. His most recent publications include, “German Neo-Liberalism and its Relevance
for Austrian Economics”, (2013) or “The Freiburg School and the Hayekian Challenge” (2013).
