Karl-Peter Schwarz
Karl-Peter Schwarz (A), is a native of Austria and graduated with a Master Degree in history and Italian literature at the University of Vienna. After some 35 years with leading European media in print, radio and TV, including ‘Die Presse’(Vienna), the Austrian Radio/TV corporation(ORF), ‘Die Welt" (Berlin), ‘Die Woche’ (Hamburg) or the ‘Wirtschaftsblatt’ (Vienna), he currently writes for the ‘Geopolitical Information Service GIS’ (Vaduz) and for ‘The European Conservative’. His regular columns appear in ‘Die Presse’ and in the German magazine ‘Cato’. During the mid 1980s Schwarz was ORF chief correspondent in Rome for several years and joined ‘Die Presse’ in 1990 as political correspondent. During the dramatic changes after the fall of Communism Schwarz reported from Prague about the bold free market reforms initiated by Vaclav Klaus and in 1996 was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of ‘Die Presse’.
However, 4 years later he joined the ‘FAZ’ and covered as chief political correspondent the post-communist reforms in almost all of the Central- and Southeast European countries. As a very prolific author Karl-Peter Schwarz published numerous essays, book contributions and articles on history, political theory, and economic transformation issues.
