Essays in honor of Pedro Schwartz
Just off the press: A brand new ecaef.org book presented by H.S.H. Prince Philipp of Liechtenstein at Pedro Schwartz’ 90th Birthday.
Indeed, economic analysis is woefully shortsighted when not grounded on a solid basis of liberal political philosophy. And conversely, political philosophy will be buffeted by the currents and crosswinds of mere fashion if it is not kept on course by the keel of economics.
Pedro Schwartz
This collection of essays from distinguished international scholars and friends has been assembled to honor one of the most distinguished economists of our times on the occasion of his 90. birthday. The European Center of Austrian Economics Foundation salutes him for a lifetime of wide-ranging intellectual creativity with an inexhaustible knowledge, as well as for his personal courage, integrity and independence.
Pedro Schwartz is one of those exceptional scholars whose wisdom matches his years, but whose energy, wit and intellectual enthusiasm are the envy of many and may set an example for younger generations of academics. His reassuring nature, elegant language and his wonderful style combine an erudite passion with a delightfully amused twinkle in his eyes. In short, we all are truly blessed to have An Austrian in Spain with us. Schwartz is among the most prolific authors and his vast oeuvre distinctly results from his comprehensive approach to various fields that condition and influence one another. The list of his scholarly books and essays is massive and likewise is the list of his popular articles, addresses or sundries.
