The first ever Gottfried von Haberler Conference took place on September 23, 2005 in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Organizer ECAEF did choose Hochschule Liechtenstein, Fürst-Franz-Josef-Strasse as venue location. H.S.H. Prince Michael of Liechtenstein did open the event, naming Giselher Guttmann as Chair of the first session. It included the following lectures:

“Austrian Economics and Global Financial Markets” (Vernon Smith, USA) – “International Monetary Policy: Problems Ahead” (Norbert Walter, D) – “Gottfried von Haberler’s Theory of International Trade at 75” (Barbara Dluhosch, D).

Chair of the second session was H.S.H. Prince Philipp of Liechtenstein. The following three lectures had been held:

“LDCs, Globalization, and the Benefits of Free Trade” (Manfred Brauchle, CL) – “Competition, IP Law and Free Trade” (Carl Baudenbacher, CH/FL) – “Is Fair Trade Just?” (Anthony de Jasay, F)

A topical and general discussion took place after session two. Chair of the panel was Erhard Busek. The panel included Karl Socher, Andreas Ludwig and Robert Nef. At 7pm a farewell cocktail and reception for all participants took place at the Liechtenstein Castle.
